What counts as a matriculation?

I applied to medical school two years ago, was accepted and granted a deferral. I did not end up taking the deferral. I never submitted an application in AMCAS for the deferral, although the school listed me as pre-approved for a deferral.

If I apply again, will I have to select "yes" to the question of "have you ever matriculated at a medical school?"
