International Applicant to American Medical Schools

I am a Canadian university student that is gearing up to apply to American medical schools this summer, due to the competition I face with Canadian medical schools. Because I am new to the whole American system, I am wondering if someone more informed than myself could give me an estimate of the likelihood of being accepted, given my statistics. I am:

- In fourth year of a medical science degree
- Canadian cGPA is 3.9 (science and non-science GPA is the same)

Informal postbacc - GPA now lower

Took a 5th year as "an informal post bacc" and GPA actually went down because of that year.

cGPA ~ 3.0
sGPA ~ 3.1

No MCAT (practice exams in the low 30s equivalent).

Mediocre ECs.

Is there any way to turn this around?
Or should my friend start looking at alternative fields?

Hi,

I would really appreciate some feedback on my chances of getting accepted into MD schools. I am a NJ resident, applied to 26 MD schools in NY, NJ and PA areas.

My GPA is a 3.65, MCAT 501 (~25-26) ~55% percentile 127PS, 123 VR, 126BS, 125P&S
I think I have a strong EC, but my MCAT is seriously hurting me
- 500 community service hours, mentoring and tutoring HS students from underserved communities through AmeriCorp and other programs
- 200 hours of tutoring upper level science...

Hey guys,

So far in the application process I've tried to stay away from forums and such and instead just wait to hear back from the schools I applied to, but I'm starting to get more and more nervous about it and would love some feedback on my chances.

I would appreciate any feedback/advice!

I had a 3.0 sGPA, 3.6 cGPA in undergrad and I am currently in a special master's program. The program's curriculum is very difficult as it is 21 credits of actual medical school classes so its looking like my GPA this semester will be the same as my ugrad sGPA. I have the option of withdrawing from an 8 credit class that I currently have a C average in and taking it again next fall. My program advisor initially suggested I withdraw from the course...

Hi there! I would love some input into my app in general, specifically schools to apply to. I plan on applying this upcoming cycle, and I have just received my MCAT. Hi all,

I'd really appreciate some advice on whether or not I can expect an acceptance come Fall 2017.

I'll try to keep this brief! So, I graduated in May, 2013. I was a Biology & Education Major, and went straight into teaching. I taught as a regular ole' Middle School Science Teacher (No TFA or anything) and absolutely loved the magnet school I was at! GPA: 3.71 (I think I can get it to 3.76 by the time i apply in june)
sGPA: 3.52 (I think I can get it to 3.62 by the time i apply)

I am taking classes at a local community until I can transfer to a state or UC school. My freshman year I went to college having no idea what I wanted to do with my life, so I decided to major in business. I absolutely hated the idea of it and could not see myself pursuing a career in business after my freshman year and decided that I had wanted to be a pediatrician (through out high school I wanted to be a doctor) this year. I have a clearly terrible undergraduate GPA from a great state school. I was a science major but didn't intend to go into medicine until my senior year and lacked any and all motivation until then. I took the MCAT this summer after graduating to see if medical school could be an option which I think my score shows that it can be. As my username suggests, I am not pre-med/MD, however my girlfriend is. She graduated in 2015 from a reputable SUNY school. I've posted on here before but things have happened since then and I appreciate anyone's advice and honesty, no matter how brutal it may be. Here's a little about myself.
