Red Flags:

I have not one, but two, full semesters of withdrawals, the first of which was taken for medical reasons and the second of which was taken for serious family reasons.

ECs:

Clinical experience:
- 2 years working as an EMT, first with interfacility transport and then with a 911. I also work PRN as an ED tech
- 3 years volunteering for a hospice
- 2 years volunteering in an ER
- >50 hours shadowing across a few different specialties...

Hi SDN-ers,

I'm just wondering what my chances are for MD schools, especially the University of Washington (I'm a WA state resident).

As the title says, I have a 3.5 sGPA, 3.6 cGPA, and a 507 MCAT. I was wondering if I should actually retake that MCAT. My score was destroyed because of my CARS (124). I will be applying the upcoming summer.

I actually don't have much extracurriculars to be honest, which kind of worries me. I'm not part of any clubs, besides being in a social fraternity....

Hello All,

I know this topic has been beaten down by every other premed out here, but its driving me nuts and I have to get some opinions.

I really want to apply DO in the 2016 cycle but I am not sure if it would be worth it given my stats. Of course, the other option would be Carib, but I would like to avoid the hassle if possible.

I'd like some advice on what to do! Really torn between getting a post-bacc, or applying this cycle and maybe scribing it during my gap year. Or Scribing it for 2 years and applying the next cycle.

Hi everyone! I was hoping to get some input on my school list for reapplication. I am an Illinois resident and when I graduate I will have roughly a 3.85 GPA, +/- .02 and a 31 MCAT. The criteria for the schools I have here are:

A. That my MCAT score is reasonable. For this current cycle, I think I applied to too many schools where my MCAT was in the 35th-ish percentile. For the overwhelming majority of the schools below, my MCAT is the 50th percentile or above. The idea is not to give...

Hello everyone,

I am a non-traditional re-applicant. I did apply to several of these schools (but not all of them) when I first applied after my junior year of college. I took the MCAT late / submitted my primary application late (late-July), and did not complete secondaries until September/October, and I applied to 25 schools (bad application strategy overall).

Hi, all!

I am a re-applicant to MD schools (improved MCAT) but a first-time applicant to DO schools. I have already applied to MD schools early this cycle and meant to apply to DO schools at the same time, but for a multitiude of reasons the DO application got pushed back a couple of months. I'm waiting on my transcripts to come in and I have to trim some more characters off of my personal statement, then I'll be ready to submit AACOMAS. 19 y.o. URM, residing in GA. Aspiring anesthesiologist or neonatologist (but I definitely have an open mind)

Education:
Neuroscience major, have an overall 3.73 GPA , 3.54 science/math, 1 withdraw (in psych online because I worked in a proctoring lab and was removed from the schedule because students from my class had issues using their home computers for exams. Hey all! I graduated with BS in Health Science in 2013 from a small Catholic Liberal Arts College in CA with a solid GPA (3.75/3.65), then attended a grad school for 2 years and graduated with a MA in Chemistry (3.85). Got a 517 (131/128/128/130) on my September MCAT. Due to some immigration issues, I only recently got my green card and I'm currently in Boston, so no in-state love from UMass.
