First post and I was hoping I could get some feedback. Like my title says I am a white male and a resident of Hawaii. My science and cumulative GPA are both about a 3.7. My Kaplan MCAT exams average around a 508-510.

Hello,

I just received my MCAT score of 504 with a breakdown of 126/124/125/129. I was very surprised at my bio score because I always scored between a 127-128 on this section during practice. I was also taken aback at my verbal score as I felt like I did a little better during the test.

What do CA medical schools (specifically the UCs) look at when selecting students? Does the applicant's undergrad institution matter? Do they prefer students that went to undergrad at a UC?

For example, I'm a CA resident, but I attended undergrad at an OOS public institution. Would this put me at a disadvantage (assuming my mcat and gpa fall within their IQR, and that my stats otherwise match up with their matriculated students)?

This past cycle I applied late in August and only to 4 schools (no private). Was instant rejected at 1, had 2 interviews, and was waitlisted pre II at the other. I think I screwed myself in 1 of the interviews and then the other I thought I did fine. I am accepted to Sackler and I am already on my first gap year so I am determining if I should just go there or apply another year. I believe I would be accepted next cycle I just really don't want to do another gap year... I am so damn bored...
