Is 20 schools too many?

I've compiled my list of schools to apply to this upcoming cycle and did the math on what it's going to cost me, and...it's a lot. I'd love cut the number down if it's a possibility but I don't want to negatively affect my odds of getting in somewhere. Is 20 schools over the top or does that sound about right? I have a 525 MCAT and will probably finish with a ~3.7 sGPA, ~3.8 cGPA.

I'm applying to schools this upcoming cycle, but I am beyond nervous about how my GPA will affect my chances. Any feedback would be really helpful!

I majored in Finance while also being on a pre-medicine track. My GPA shows a slight downward trend. Lots of B's in my classes, but I scored in the 88th percentile on the MCAT. I thought about addressing my GPA in any secondaries (if any at all) by being honest and writing that I was overloading myself with 18 credits a semester until my senior...

What are my chances? MD DO

Hey everyone. I'm currently a 5th year senior. I have one more semester. I am behind in my undergrad career due to a rare disorder called syringomyelia which has made my life quite harder over the past 3 years when I was diagnosed. However I received a surgery from a top neurosurgeon that has really helped me greatly over the past year. With that being said I'm hoping to apply to medical school in 2018 to start in 2019. I am hoping schools are understanding of my story. My grades are...

I suppose I'm mostly looking which DO schools wouldn't mind my stats, but if there are any MD schools that I should still look at, or SMPs, or any other options, please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I'll try to add as much details as possible

How late is too late to apply?

I will be taking 10 credits this summer and I was wondering if it would be wise to wait to apply in mid-August? I have an upward trend in my GPA and if I were to get 4.0's in all of my summer courses I could bring my GPA up from a 3.14 to a 3.23. I intend on applying to DO schools and I am wondering how detrimental it will be for me to apply in mid-to-late August. Thanks Guys!

Retake MCAT?

Hello all,

I took the MCAT in January and got a 502. I decided to retake and have signed up for June 17. I have done content for the past month or so and have started practice passages again. I am doing poorly on the practice passages and I am worried that I will do worse. I prepared a TON for the first exam.

How bad does it look to have a lower score on the second take? Even if schools say they take the highest, I feel like they can find a way to boot me out if I get a lower second score...

Hey Everyone,

So I'm currently constructing my med school list and was looking for a little bit of feedback or suggestions for schools to potentially add/take away. I am planning on applying broadly to ~ 30 schools, as evident from my list below. My fiancee is a current medical student who will be applying to residencies the same time I'm applying to medical school (4 year difference). I'm hoping to optimize my chances of getting as many acceptances as possible because he is creating his...

Hey everyone, I'm hoping for this to be productive as possible. I usually stray away from these types of forums, but I would like some opinions. I'm a 24 year old white male.

Graduated with a Physics degree in 2015 with a cumulative GPA of 3.1. Got a job as an EMT after graduating, and have been doing that for a year (tons of patient contact). I volunteer at two organizations, people's city mission (health clinic for homeless and underserved) and HUGS (a german shepherd rescue) and heavily...

Moving to gain state residency status

Hi everyone,

So my understanding is most medical schools generally only accept individuals who are residents In the state they are located in. Based on this, I been planning on moving to Washington from California because I want to go to medical school in WA. Would that automatically lose me the ability to get in California medical schools, even though I've lived in CA my whole life and graduated high school here? I'm worried because there is only a small amount of schools in WA compared to...

Hello all,

new to the forums here and just wanted to reach out for advice.
I have a 3.8 sGPA and 3.5 cGPA and I am currently studying for the MCAT.
I haven't done too many ECs although. I am actually a pharmacy technician at the moment and have been promoted to inventory specialist (which is something lol) and I have been involved in a leadership society at school and am in the process of getting my pre med letters committee packet in order at the moment. Like I said just looking for...
