So I recently had an interview at a top school. I have a 3.4 GPA, 3.7 Science, but low MCAT. I'm a second time applicant. I was in shock when I received an interview. I think I did good on the interview. There were a few question that were off though.

A big reason for my lack of ECs is that I had to work ~25hr a week to help my parents for college, and I have to spend A LOT of time studying to get good grades/test scores.
Don't care about school prestige, just want to be a PCP like...

What are my chances of being accepted into a md or do school as a black female?

My gpa is only a 3.1 but I have a 516 MCAT. I have published research, health-related trip to Haiti, and one year experience as certified nursing assistant (CNA). My last year of undergrad I made straight A's, so I feel I have shown improvement.

Do I have a chance with my current stats or should I wait and do a post-bacc?
Will I have any luck with an MD school or should I only apply to DO schools?

I have a friend who shocked me when he said he hasn't gotten into medical school after 2 cycles! Here are his stats:

S. GPA: 3.76
C. GPA: 3.85
MCAT: 505 first try, 513 2nd try

ECs:

Volunteer at hospice and low income clinic
On the executive board of a medical campaign organization
Does research
Worked for the sports arena on campus
Maybe other stuff I don't know about.

Hi all,

Was hoping to get some feedback on my school lists for the upcoming cycle. Graduated 2017 but took a year off to increase EC in volunteering & clinical. I keep seeing these horror stories of people with 3.8+ 95%+ MCATs having no luck this cycle and I'm horrified at the thought of having to take another year off, which would also entail me having to re-take my MCAT b/c it would expire. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I am currently a junior pre med biomedical engineer. I currently have a cumulative gpa of 3.77, which is not too high but I feel like it is fairly acceptable. However, this semester I am really in some horrible classes and I expect a cumulative gpa drop down to around 3.65-3.68. I'm taking at least one gap year, so I'd be applying the summer after my senior year at the earliest.
