Mentioning Depression in Post-Bacc Personal Statement?

Hello,

I'm looking to apply to many post-baccs to improve my academic record. Depression affected my path and made me who I am, and I feel weird leaving it out of my personal statement. that being said, i understand it makes me look a bit weak. I wouldn't be applying to these programs if I wasn't entirely confident in my abilities and recovery. I currently have one personal statement with my regular interests, accomplishments, etc... as well as a second describing my experience with mental...

Good evening, all! I am a currently practicing speech pathologist; I have been in the field for 9 years in medical settings working closely with nurses, PA, and doctors in subacute rehab settings. I decided that I want to do more for my patients, so I have decided to move up in the medical world.

I took a year off work in 2016-2017 to care for my sick wife and children and take pre-requisites for PA school. When I started looking at the required courses for DO/MD programs I realized that I...

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get some feedback on my extracurricular activities and if you all think that they are sufficient or if I should become involved in more. I’m applying this cycle

GPA: 3.9
MCAT: 519

This is what I was thinking for listing as my activities:
  • Basic Science Research - about 1,000 hours (two posters, no publications)
  • Clinical Research Assistant in hospital (about 500 hours)
  • Clinic Assistant for low income patients (about 100 hours)
  • University...

Too late for me? Chances?

I graduated in 2015 with a Chemistry BA. I spent some time aimless and then some more time getting an application for pharmacy school because I doubted I had a shot at the MD.

But as it turns out I put together a stellar application. I applied late and only to UF and flubbed the interview (they offered me a do over). But it made me doubt my own self doubt anyway.
  1. cGPA: 3.74 sGPA: 3.8
  2. MCAT: Would need to do, I'm confident I could do very well. I'm good at tests and although I...

Hey guys. Just got my MCAT score today and wanted to know what you think my chances are of getting into medical school. I'll be applying to both MD and DO, though I know my chances of MD are pretty slim. I'll probably apply to 20 DO schools to give myself the best chance of getting in.

My stats are:

3.54 cGPA, 3.83 non-science GPA, 3.32 sGPA (for MD schools), 3.29 sGPA (for DO schools), and a 501 MCAT (127/123/126/125).

I was always >95th percentile in high school, but in my first semester in college, i had a tragic event occur which forced me to wave my first semester grades. I went back the following semester and some medical issues came to rise again. This time it was too late to wave everything so I failed every class that semester. I gave the school many letters from teams of doctors, still wasn’t able to wave. Due to this, I will have to retake those classes at a community college before I would be...

I am a Texas resident, have a 3.9 total GPA, 3.82 science GPA, and a 511 (127 127 127 130) MCAT (I'm also white so not URM).
I will be applying with 400 hours of research, 150 hours of clinical volunteering (hospice volunteering and hospital volunteering), 50 non clinical volunteering, and 70 hours of shadowing.
I am also a member of a couple of organizations and believe that I will have strong letters of rec.
So I was wondering what my chances would be with these schools (first list I've...

I just got my MCAT scores back and I'm pretty disappointed; I scored higher on every AAMC practice test, and got a 519 on the one immediately before testing. I had been using the averages of my practice scores to compile my list, but now that doesn't work anymore, so now I need some help compiling a new school list.

Do I have any shot at all in getting in to the University of Missouri with my current stats.. cGPA: 3.52, sGPA 3.48, Non-scienceGPA 3.57. MCAT 498.

I am a white male that is a nontraditional student. I spent 10 years in the army before starting college and am married with 2 children. I did summer research and the University of Kansas hospital over polycystic kidney disease. I have a little over 100 shadow hours, and good letters of recommendation. I know my MCAT is low....but is it too low???
