I'm currently looking at the MSAR and trying to compile a list of OOS schools to apply to, in addition to all the MD schools in Texas. Any advice would be super appreciated! I'm currently a third-year and planning to apply in May for the 2018-2019 cycle, but I'm also thinking about taking a gap year.

So, I'm technically not pre-med. I graduated with a 2.96 cGPA in Microbiology. Honestly, I slacked my way through college. I went to a pretty tough University, and honestly a 2.96 there is still good. Regardless, people don't really consider that.

I'm a getting my Master's in Microbiology, and I was just wondering if this would help take some of the heat off my low GPA. Say I get a 4.0 cGPA in my Master's coursework. I have plenty of research experience. Multiple years of bacteriology and...

Lower GPA Non-Trad...MD or PA?

Hey everyone. Does a non-trad with a sub-3.0 GPA have a better chance at MD or PA school? I know my chances are low at both, and I know MD schools are generally more competitive. However, I have noticed most PA schools have a hard cut-off GPA of 3.0, but MD schools do not. I have had significant life and leadership experience in business at a company with over 150 billion dollars in revenue. I have been promoted multiple times and been the lead of 10+ people managing projects worth over...

Hey y'all, this is my fourth time applying, and I think I've shored up some of the weak areas of my application, but I just wanted to get some realistic opinions.

-cGPA: 3.31, sGPA ~3.01. I have been post-baccing a few classes that I have not factored into those GPAs, but they are improved grades. I also have a MS in Physiology, but my graduating GPA there was around a 3.0. I don't know if those grades will factor in, or if they'll be considered separately.
-Old MCAT score was a 38. Bio 13,...

Hi all! I just got my MCAT score and I'm freaking out a bit. It is not as high as I would have liked and now I'm struggling with what I should do. I wanted to go straight through and applying in June 2018 but now I'm wondering if I should take a gap year. I am going to retake the MCAT in August regardless.

Hello SDN,

I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first post on SDN.

I am a Canadian citizen, but went to a university within Michigan. I plan on applying in the 2018-2019 cycle, and would like to be prepared for the application.

I took the MCAT in the summer of 2016 and got a 516 (127 Chem/Physics, 125 CARS, 132 Bio, 132 Psych). Should I retake the MCAT because of my 125 CARS section?

I have a 3.98 GPA, and will be graduating with Honors in Psychology.

I have done research,...

Hey guys I just got my MCAT score back so I can finally make a thread. What do you guys think of my app for top tier schools? I'd prefer to stay in Cali so UCSF/Stanford/UCLA/etc. are what I'm aiming for (but I will of course apply broadly). I'm not taking a gap year if it makes any difference.

  • Go to UC
  • GPA: 3.96 (both are about the same)

I am a sophomore with a chemical engineering undergrad major with an emphasis in biochemistry. I have decided that I want to go to medical school after my undergraduate, however I have a lot of questions, and need advice from people who have experience in this!

1. My GPA is 3.49/4, which isn’t horrible for chemical engineering. However I have heard that GPA is very important on the applications for medical school. How will this be taken into account? Are my chances lowered with this GPA?...

Hello!

I just got my MCAT scores back and I am not sure what to make of my application. I got a 509 (128/127/127/127) but, based on my practice test scores, I really thought I would get above a 510. I'm not sure I should retake it based on my application and the schools I want to apply to, and I could really use some help!

My cGPA should be around a 3.57/3.58 based on how this semester is going and my sGPA should be around a 3.45 (again, a prediction). I go to a top 20 undergraduate...
